June, 1868, the outcrop was discovered, and later the Aztec mine was opened on it. The mine was rapidly developed, and a 15stamp mill was put into operation October 29, 1868. For a few years the yield was sometimes as high as $21,000 a week. Raymond 2 reported in 187.0 that ore from this mine averaged as high as $68.83 a ton saved
